National Fishing Remembrance Day

Join us for the second National Fishing Remembrance Day, a day to commemorate and pay tribute to the many fishers who have tragically lost their lives at sea. Taking place at fishing ports across the UK, this day of remembrance brings together fishing communities, families, and supporters to honour those working in one of the UK’s most dangerous professions.

Fishing, with over 11,000 people working in harsh and unpredictable conditions, is an essential industry, providing food for the nation, supporting the economy, and serving as the lifeblood of many coastal communities across the UK. Yet, it comes with significant risks, and many fishing communities have experienced heartbreaking losses.

Services and Events:
Services will be held around the UK’s ports. More information on events and how to support the day will be available soon.

National Fishing Remembrance Day was created in partnership with Stella Maris, The Fishermen’s Mission, The Seafarers’ Charity, Seafish, and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
