Less than two months into 2022, the shipping industry was rocked by the outbreak of war in Ukraine. One in seven of the world’s seafarers are Russian or Ukrainian. There are 77,000 Ukrainian seafarers – and many of the globe’s 55,000 vessels rely on Ukrainian workers.
The war in Ukraine formed a significant part of our work in 2022. We poured time, energy and funds into ensuring vital support for seafarers and their families affected by this conflict.
But our five strategic priorities mean we also supported seafarers of all nationalities, in different ways, right around the world.
